View Article  Signs of Life in Lake Eustis

Ventured out to Eustis last Friday night, over hills and through the rain, to attend the opening of Jeff Whipple's Signs of Life show at the Lake Eustis Museum of Art.

Jeff is an extrordinary talent, and the most prolific artist I know except for maybe my Dad. Certainly my favorite teacher of my college years, he has had a profound influence on not only my sense of design and art, but to a great extent my life and the way I see things.

So, make a trip to Eustis and check out the "Van Gogh" of our times at the Museum of Art. Be sure to say hi to Kristen the Director. She is doing some really cool things, and you can't get much cooler than having a showing of Jeff Whipple's latest work!

Arriving a day late due to bad weather, we finally reach our destination: TM Studios. Located in Furth, Germany, the studio is in a Post WWI airplane hanger built by the US, and later taken over by the Germans in WWII. After WWII, the airport became civilian, and in the 70s closed entirely. TM Studios have been in building for 14 years. It is extremely cool.

The crew at Red Rocket is very excited to be working on lots of cool projects for Kennedy Space Center. Seeing new projects they will be introducing makes me nostalgic for the school field trips we used to take to the Cape. For those of you who grew up pretty much a local, you understand what I mean. You get on the big bus, head out to KSC for the day to enjoy rockets, spacemen and who can forget the astronaut freeze dried ice cream in neopolitan! If it's been awhile since you've checked out the attraction, you should really give it another try. If you really think about it, all that awesome technology is right in our backyard. It's a shame to take a piece of history for granted by neglecting it. And, if you ever get a chance to see a launch in person, GO... what a thrill! So, if you're looking for something to fill the weekend with, head on over to Kennedy Space Center, it's not just for middle school field trips anymore!
